Goat’s milk may not sound like the most glamorous of skincare ingredients.
It’s literally milk that is produced by goats. But bear with us, because once you know about the array of skincare benefits harnessed by this simple ingredient, you’ll soon realise why goat’s milk is the GOAT (‘greatest of all time’… sorry).
Known for its soothing, comforting and moisturising properties, goat’s milk has been hailed as a powerful ingredient since ancient times (Cleopatra apparently took daily baths in the stuff).
Why? It’s rich in amino acids, minerals and fatty acids.
In fact, goat’s milk is made up of approximately 30% fatty acids (nearly double that of cow’s milk), making it a rich source of natural, intensely hydrating fats. Goat’s milk is also full of lactic acid with a neutral, gentle PH, making it ideal for soothing dryness and tightness, particularly if you suffer from sensitive skin.
That’s why, traditionally, goat’s milk was used to treat dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. But now, the wider beauty industry is cottoning on to its thirst-quenching powers.
